Each of our Preschool rooms will cater for 16 or 24 children per session from three and a half years
To starting school and offers a structured child led curriculum with lots of project based learning opportunities helping the children to thrive and take responsibility for their experiences.
As the Preschoolers are more independent they take more responsibility for their environment and set their own community boundaries which they uphold with support from the staff. They take responsibility for their own care needs where possible and often help each other to learn new skills along the way.
The Preschool Room is project based and the children choose their topics of interest and discuss what they would like to learn about. Staff follow the children’s ideas and build activities and experiences that meet the children’s learning potential. Through giving children the autonomy to decide how the project unfolds it builds their sense of community, their confidence and their problem-solving skills enhancing their development across all areas in a fun and challenging way.
Your child will have a Key Worker, a member of staff who will be responsible for the day to day wellbeing of your child during their time at nursery. Your child will develop a close bond with this member of staff and a mutual respect and understanding making their time at nursery a more special experience and making nursery a place they feel loved, secure and safe to explore.
Our Preschoolers also have the opportunity to take part in Football or Tennis sessions with external coaches who come in and play all sorts of team building games to develop gross motor and co-ordination skills. We also offer French lessons so your child can learn and experience another language.
Preschool staff are experienced in supporting each child on their journey to starting school ensuring they can transition with all the necessary skills and confidence to begin their school life with a positive head start. Literacy, numeracy and all cognitive skills are developed through a play approach that offers each child the opportunity to explore concepts and ideas in a fun and dynamic environment that challenges them to extend their own learning with gentle adult support and guidance.
We believe that all children should be offered the opportunity to play in the outdoor areas everyday regardless of weather conditions as long as they have the right clothing and activities provided. We are lucky to have two large gardens, a nature garden and a sensory room that children can access. Staff plan in activities and share the areas to offer children a wide range of experiences including mud play, sensory play, sand and water areas, climbing areas, planting and exploring nature.

Working Together
We believe if we work together with parents we can create the best possible early experience for your child. We ask all parents to be as involved with their child’s nursery life as they wish to be. We have parent observation forms for you to share your child’s achievements and their interests or activities you have done over the weekend.
We have an individual family story book and English as an additional language book so you can put in photos and words for your child to have a piece of home in the nursery and to enable staff to communicate with your child using familiar words and pictures to reassure them.
In our Preschool Rooms we have special weekend bears that go home with a different child each weekend so they can share in all your weekend fun and report back to the other children the next week. You are also welcome to come and share a favourite activity, story or song with all the other children in the room or offer ideas to staff to include in their day with your child. Staff will often offer you ideas of places to visit to support the current projects and encourage parents to share their child’s learning to contribute to activities to support your child’s interest in the direction of the project.
As your child is transitioning into the Preschool room you will receive a transition pack from us which gives you information about the staff, routines and additional activities and developmental milestones that go with each room to help you and your child prepare for the upcoming change as well as an All about me project to complete for your child to share as they come through helping them to build relationships with staff and children.
As the time approaches for your child to go on to school, whether it’s to start reception or as part of wrap-around care with a local school nursery, staff will prepare development reports that will be shared with yourselves and the new setting to ensure the transition can be as smooth as possible. In the lead up to starting school staff have regular discussions with the children about school life and will welcome any new teachers that wish to visit your child in the nursery setting.
